Nicole Castro
Program Coordinator of Words Counts

Nicole Castro, a Hartford native, is working toward improving the academic outcome of children through the Words Count program at The Village for Families & Children.  She has received her Master’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership through Springfield College and used her research thesis to reinforce that a child’s early literacy and social-emotional skills together are the foundation of kindergarten readiness.

Her role as the program coordinator of Words Counts has provided a way for her to cultivate her passion for engaging families in the Hartford community.  Nicole played a vital role in the creation, successful implementation, and growth of the innovative Words Count program.  In the last year, Nicole helped The Village serve over 150 children and their families with the program.
