Lisa Swain
Adjunct Professor at Naugutuck Valley Community College

Lisa has been an adjunct professor at Naugatuck Valley Community College for 19 years, teaching in the Early Childhood Education Department, as well as the Psychology Department.  She also teaches at a New Canaan preschool since 1995, first as a Head Teacher for 4 years and then as “Mrs. Science” ever since.  In addition, she provided professional development in math, science, literacy, the CT ELDS and the Pyramid Model for Social Emotional Learning for the State of CT, and has developed a transition program for the Danbury School Readiness and the Danbury Public School Kindergarten program.  She currently serves on the Connecticut Pyramid Model State Leadership team.  She has a Bachelor’s in Psychology, an MBA and a Masters and 6th year degree in Elementary and Secondary Education.  She currently lives in Newtown, CT with her husband and has three adult sons.

Her workshop will focus on the Choose Love Social Emotional curriculum for young children, which she designed for the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement, an initiative that celebrates and promotes all the benefits of SEL with a call to action for educators, students, families and communities across the country.  Much of this curriculum is based on the Pyramid model.
