Al deCant is a critically acclaimed concert performer and educator from Connecticut, who has entertained and educated thousands of young people through his programs of music, literacy, and numeracy. Al’s early education interactive music classes as well as his literacy and character education programs are being used in schools and classrooms throughout Connecticut. Parents, teachers, and children immediately respond to the catchy tunes and lyrical wit of this veteran singer/songwriter/educator. Al’s original comic and soulful style are enjoyed as much by adults as as they are by children. Al deCant has been an educator for over 30 years and has served as an elementary school teacher, principal, and director of curriculum and instruction. He holds a BS in Elementary Education, and MAs in Elementary Education, and Educational Leadership. Al is also a certified The Learning Groove Music and Movement instructor. He actively performs throughout New England for schools, libraries, hospitals, local fairs, fundraisers as well as private and corporate functions. Al is a yearly presenter for the Connecticut Association for the Gifted – “Minds In Motion” and has given keynote addresses and presented interactive literacy workshops for the Early Childhood Development Council, The Literacy for All National Conference in Providence, RI, Reach Out & Read Connecticut, Read Across the Connecticut Valley, Family Place in Madison, CT, T.E.A.M. Early Education Head Start Program, Connecticut Valley Directors Making Connections with Young Learners, and the Early Learning Center at the Hospital for Special Needs in New Britain, CT.
